My Tools

I dislike writing long stories on my phone. Besides, I have heard that Google Docs has questionable integrity where intellectual property is concerned. Therefore, I use Papyrus 12. Is it better than Scrivener? I, personally, think it is, yes. On saying that, I have not used Scrivener since it was upgraded and the people who had purchased the previous version were now expected to purchase the new version without any reduction in price. I moved on to Papyrus Author because there was a free version and I found it to be more reliable.

Papyrus 12 is new and is a little clunky, here and there, but I have no doubt that it will improve. As I had been paying to use Papyrus Author recently, I was able to download Papyrus 12 with a generous discount, which certainly helped and was appreciated.

Character designs need to be quick, effortless. I am not a great artist and I want to focus on writing my stories, without being forced to break concentration. However, I do need to have something to reference while I write, to ensure that I don't confuse crucial character descriptions mid-story. For quick designs, I use Hero Forge.

Three of my latest characters: Doctor Geoffrey Wolf (far left) with his dear friend, Doctor Matias Tegu. To the right is Terry Wolf, carrying his late father's walking stick.

The illustration that I used for the Independent Magician was created by me, using Gimp, which is completely free to download and use. However, I do occasionally purchase paint brushes, fonts, etc. from Creative Fabrica, because sometimes we all need something a little specialist.
